Friday Reflections
Questions
What were some highlights from this week?
Breaking into animation! It has been so cool to get into something I have always wanted to do, but have been too nervous to try.
What challenges did you face this week in this class?
On Friday I really had trouble with the cut paper animation. Everything kept shifting frame to frame because the materials were so light. I also faced issues because my idea was a little over scope for the actual amount of time I had to explore, so I had to cut back a little.
What did you take away this week in terms of teaching? Are you thinking of any aspects of your pedagogy differently? Or did this week add to it?
I definitely took away reminders to scaffold my lessons and provide multiple ways into an assignment. I have been appreciating the open ended assignments that explore each technique within a medium… student choice is big for me in my teaching practice, so it is cool to see it in action with other teachers! As far as scaffolding — it has been an awesome experience to try something so out of my artistic norms! It has been a refreshing perspective to be in the seat of a student with limited experience, trying to navigate new tech. I look forward to using these feelings and workarounds to my advantage when thinking about scaffolding knowledge in my classroom!
One would say that I got a little carried away with the storyline on this one — I decided to scale back a bit.
